Hyperspectral Imaging for Caries Detection

Dental decay is not as easy to identify as it used to be. Caused by the increased use of fluoride, it is now more difficult to diagnose caries and doctors are looking for new ways to improve medical care.

Within the scope of a research project, our hyperspectral imaging systems are used by the TU Dresden as a new means for the early detection of caries. The project aims to identify caries in difficult to reach areas, such as interdental spaces.
