TIVITA®: Cornerstone for optical biopsy?

8 March 2021, 11:04

In cooperation with IRCAD in Strasbourg, new ways of diagnostics in medicine are repeatedly demonstrated at the University Medical Center Leipzig.

In a recent publication in "Cancers", Jansen-Winkeln et al. were able to show for the first time that it is possible to detect and classify colorectal cancer tissue by combining HSI and artificial intelligence. Based on a neural network, tumor classification resulted in a sensitivity of 86% and a specificity of 95%. Similarly, significant differences in perfusion parameters (e.g. oxygen saturation) depending on tumor stage and neoadjuvant therapy were observed using TIVITA®.

This once again impressively demonstrated what HSI is capable of. We are pleased to be able to make a valuable contribution to medical diagnostics with the TIVITA and thank the authors for the helpful publication.
