TIVITA® Mini
TIVITA® Mini
In addition to a continuous live color image, the camera displays various perfusion parameters of human tissue.
Hyperspectral imaging for minimally invasive procedures.
Users are thus provided with additional diagnosis-supporting information that is not visible to the human eye. By expanding the surgeon's field of view and assisting in the detection of anatomical risk structures and pathological changes, the clinical outcome for patients during complex operations can potentially be improved.
The basis for the development of the TIVITA® Mini is the TIVITA® Tissue, which has already established the technology of hyperspectral imaging for open surgical applications, among others, and is successfully used intraoperatively, e.g. for the assessment of anastomoses and for the precise determination of resection positions.
The TIVITA® Mini can be used in all specialties in which minimally invasive surgery is used, for example, in the..:
- Visceral Surgery
- Thoracic Surgery
- Surgical oncology
- Transplant Medicine
- Gastroenterology
- Gynecology
- Urology
The advantages
- Display of blood flow and substance parameters for the detection of anatomical risk structures
- Contactless imaging
- Non-invasive, as no dyes are necessary
- Harmless, as no ionizing radiation
- Simple operation through intuitive software
- No preparation time necessary - minimal impact on workflow
- Fast and repetitive measurements
- Objective through stable algorithms
- Cost-effective
The TIVITA® Mini is offered as a complete system consisting of the core components: endoscopic HD camera for live video and HSI recordings, imaging centre (broadband LED illumination unit, powerful computer) including application software, two monitors, endoscopic optics and optionally with equipment trolley and foot switch.
Thanks to different camera sensors, it is possible to permanently see a colour video and simultaneously take any number of HSI images, which are displayed on the second monitor. With only one hyperspectral image by the TIVITA® Mini, various blood flow and substance parameters are shown to you. These include:
- Tissue oxygen saturation (StO2 [%])
- Organ Hemoglobin Index (OHI [index value])
- NIR Perfusion Index (NIR [index value])
- Tissue Water Index (TWI [index value])
- Tissue Lipid Index (TLI [index value])
Several studies compare hyperspectral imaging with ICG fluorescence imaging technique for intraoperative perfusion monitoring. Studies to date clearly show that HSI and FI-ICG are comparable imaging techniques, are reliable predictors of adequate perfusion and can be used in a complementary manner.
HSI offers significant advantages over ICG imaging.
Compared to HSI, fluorescence-based technologies are associated with some risks for the patients, since, in contrast to non-invasive HSI, the injection of a fluorescent dye is necessary. Phototoxic effects and hypersensitivity reactions have been described. It is also disadvantageous that inflammatory changes, abscesses and necrotic areas result in false positive fluorescence. In addition, the quality of the signal is strongly dependent on the type of tissue and can also be negatively influenced by the effect of "photo-bleaching".
In addition, the use of the TIVITA® Mini System is more cost-effective, as the material input of 25 mg ICG alone costs approximately €80 [Baiocchi GL, Diana M, Boni L. Indocyanine green-based fluorescence imaging in visceral and hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery: State of the art and future directions. World journal of gastroenterology, 2018, Vol. 24, No. 27, p. 2921] - these ongoing costs are completely eliminated for HSI. This saving is equivalent to a value of €80,000-€240,000 over five years, assuming one to three missions per day for 200 working days per year. Further advantages of HSI are the short preparation and measurement time, reproducibility and repeatability of the images, independent of the distribution of a dye in the organism.
